Magazine as you might know is a building used to contain weapons against enemies. And some of the enemies of the colonial Williamsburg are Indians, slave revolts, local riots, and pirate raids. This building was built by the amazing Governor Spotwood. As for one day in 1715, it popped into his mind of an 8-sided building containing weapons. After it was built, Spotwood assigned John Brush, the builder of Bush-Everard House, to keep after the building. It contained lots of weapons such as swords, gun powder, guns and some other things such as tents, tools, canteens, and cooking utensils. This building was guarded 24 hours a day. It was a significant building. It was also admired by all the visitors and tourists. Until today, it still stands in colonial Williamsburg.
